I'm by no means an expert, but it's a bigger turbo which does typically mean more lag. That's why you see many modern sports cars with two turbos, a smaller one and then a larger one.

I stand to be corrected of course

I have no idea. Try both before you buy!
If the ED30 is slower in lower RPM, then it sure makes up for it in the dash to the redline...
I'd be quite happy for a car to be slow in town at low rpm, and then a bit tasty everywhere else.

I think this is true.

Best buy would be an R32 as they have no lag whatsoever.

Been suggested that needs to be tuned to make it less laggy

Considering a r32 also but the boots smaller due to 4wd system. Need to fit a pram and other crap unfortunately

The only thing the R32 has over the eddy is the sound.
Just a stage 1 eddy is different league for performance but different strokes for different folks.

No. I think your the first to discover this  :signLOL:

The bigger K04 turbo has its power band higher in the Rev range than the K03 (GTI) turbo. At low revs it can be a little laggier. . .

With a 3in downpipe and an intake (with a remap) you will get almost instant throttle response. A good excuse to modify  :drinking:

Put it this way, if I could afford an Edition 30 I would have had one, I would definitely sacrifice a bit of low down torque for more top end power. Since having my GTI I discovered I definitely prefer to rev an engine out than to rely on torque.

They also have no power either

I too would have bought one if funds had allowed. As to the enjoyment of revving an engine-that's why I have a bike

Coming from a stage 1 gti to a standard eddy I'd agree BUT my eddy is standard and pulls so much harder to the redline! Once remapped with downpipe intake it'll be a different story  :happy2:

When i had an ED30 i bought my son a Standard GTI both were manual gearboxes . I drove both regularly . The GTI was in my opinion a more sensible everyday car to drive with no real hesitation and power was pretty good without having to rev it too hard . The ED30 was more torquey and was a little sluggish at lower revs , as the revs built then the power didn't come with a rush as you knew it was coming but it was noticeably quicker to 60 - 100 keeping the revs up . Had the bluefin remap on and off depending what i was doing on the ED30 , the best thing you could do for £300 (bought off another forum member) and transformed the car and the acceleration was noticeably quicker.....

Does anyone have any rolling road graphs of a completely standard GTI as well as ED30 for comparison? Would be interesting to see them overlayed against one another.
