New car detail prices and recommendations *Now done :)*
« on: February 18, 2015, 08:29:49 pm »
Just wondered what the average price was for a new car detail. Just about to collect a pre-reg car I have bought. Its been registered for three months, but is basically a brand new car. I have been considering getting a new car detail for it to help start it off the right way. Also, does anyone have any recommendations of good places for this somewhere not too far from the Bournemouth area in Dorset?

Depends what you're after, for a golf sized car and full Gtechniq inside and out paint/ wheels/ glass/ seats/ mats we charge somewhere around £500 at work.

That includes washing/ prep. Full machine polish. Full protection and normally takes 2-3 days.

Elite car care in Maidenhead Berkshire, so pretty far from you.

Yeah that's a shame mate. Needs a full paint restoration on mine, it's looking pretty sorry for itself

Cheers, but wow that's more than I thought. I hoped it would be less for new cars. Anyway, its really just the paintwork I would want doing, not the interior. That might help.

Problem is new cars can be sh*t. People think because its new the paint will be perfect (I used to think that) and it should be perfect since that's part of the reason for buying new.

We've done new cars that have needed 2 days of polishing because they came with flat marks/ scratches/ holograms/ pigtails (from DA machine) and other bits. Problem is the dealerships have an in house "detailer" who is normally a polish bloke on sh*t pay who has 2 hours to wash and polish a car so it's worse than when he started.

Even a basic 1 day wash/ quick polish/ wax would set you back around £250.

Also on a 3 year old car it would be more like £850 since it's a full weeks work.

I asked and we don't know anyone personally but there's this place

He's on detailing world and his work seems pretty good, i'd ask around first and maybe have a chat with him but looks good.

I have had my car done by http://www.g3valeting.co.uk/ in the past They are based near Sherborne but are also mobile. They provide a very good service and his regular clients have some pretty prestige motors.

Where abouts in the Bournemouth area are you i'm in Wimborne
