Anyone got a guide to installing these MFSW buttons on to a steering wheel that already has the DSG paddles and controller box/unit?

I want to buy some but unsure how to fit

Answers on a postcard please

Cheers

Jon

Don't know if anyone is interested (or even if it's allowed), but I have a full set of post 2005.5 (i.e the later set that Darren mentioned with the one phone button and star button) steering wheel buttons up for sale.

It's both button sets, with ribbon cables including the little controller box. (as per photos below).

If anyone is interested before they go on fleabay, then send me a PM.

Cheers

Well guys, I was going to move this into the "for sale" section (sorry mods) , but had lots of immediate responses, and they are now provisionally sold. Many thanks to all those that were interested.

Cheers

Gents,

Sorry to dig this one up, but wondering if anyone is interested in trying to get hold of some of these 'new style' buttons?

Am I correct in saying that in an Edition 30 with DSG (2007) these should be a straight fit?

I would deffo prefer this option because it is cheaper, but more importantly because it means I can retain the ED30 red stitching rather than having a standard MFSW from a normal GTI.

TIA

Matt

I've done this, it's just a simple job of removing the air bag, undo wire to flappy paddle, undo torx screw, pull ribbon cable from steering wheel and unplug from controller. Refit in reverse order but with substitute buttons. DISCONNECT battery first. There are several different types of button, at least three that I am aware of. Mine is in for coding tomorrow, but all buttons are working with no problems.

Thanks mate,

Would you be kind enough divulge the PN's you bought and where from (price even)??

I am unsure if the DSG ED30 wheel requires the 'control unit' or not as well - can you confirm?

Cheers

You have PM  :happy2: Mine are the earlier type buttons, I think they are better as no gaps at edge of buttons to get dirt and dust into.

Rather than keeping part numbers and prices private, it might be more useful to post the details up here to help others.  :happy2:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

The part numbers are not private and are available on this site, see my post here.

 http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,18527.0.html

These are not the correct buttons for a 2007 car but do fit and work with no problems. As regards price I paid £72.50 including P&P and Pay Pal fees, the buttons were actually £60. Hope this helps.
As regards the control unit, if you have the paddles on the steering wheel they are simple plug and play.
