Most likely a fault with the hardware. . . Have you replaced cam follower? Could be your LPFP or HPFP playing up?
Just been down to a vw specialist and they said my cam chain is rattling maybe this could be to down with the problem?? I don't think the cam follower or spark plugs have ever been changed either. Any input would be great thanks
Did they load the stock OEM remap to come to that conclusion?

I doubt your flat spot is down to the cam chain. It's not a common fault for an Edition30 BYD engine.
Normally if a person complains of a noisey engine that the cam chain might need looking at, but without hearing any sort of audio on your issue, unless you load the stock OEM remap back on and take readings of everything on VCDS , your peeing in the breeze so to speak.
Carbon'd up inlets would normally give a poor cold start condition, or a lot of misfires on idle generally.
If you can load an audio video of your engine perhaps, and load the stock remap back on and see if the flat spot is less notable perhaps?
