Possible carbon build up

Had my car on the dyno yesterday and there is a surge or flat sport at the bottom of the rev range then it shoots up.. They could find no other problems with the car and everything check out ok. I am thinking it could be carbon build up from what I have been reading. Anyone on here cleaned there inlets up??

You would have uneven idling and misfires if you had carbon buildup.

your flat spot is more then likely your remap , as it appears to be quite a spiked delivery to around 3400rpm ...perhaps a bespoke remap with smoother delivery will help cure any flat spot felt on fly up?

Who wrote your remap?

His engine seems to making the power and torque so a leaking DV will cause poor power outputs, which looking at his graphs, it's not..
Looks healthy, but just the remapping technique that's been used.

His engine seems to making the power and torque so a leaking DV will cause poor power outputs, which looking at his graphs, it's not..
Looks healthy, but just the remapping technique that's been used.

They said the problem was from very low rpm upto 1500 on the standard power graph

Did they give you any fuel pressure graphs?

Only had the car a few weeks no evidence of the cam follow has been changed..They checked loads of stuff out on there diagnostics and said its a healthy car.
Going to change the cam follower and stick some new plugs in next week.

As I said your graph looks of a healthy car, just the way the remap is delivered is why your feeling a flat spot..
The map spike needs to be lowered and given more boost lower down given that your boost isn't delivered as aggressive.

I had the same, with a Bluefin remap, massive spike on fly up, but for smooth delivery it was shocking, and very flat feeling after 4500 rpm onwards.. If you have a linear remap, then you won't feel that horrid spike and flat spot building up to the bottom of your spike which makes for a much smoother , quicker and smoother drive feel.

I am urging myself to do another vid for this, but it will help if wanting to do the valve cleaning yourself. There is a link to bore-scope pics in this vids description. There is another vid on my channel for a diy cam follower replacement...only you have a Banjo bolt to deal with on the bottom left of the hpfp as you face it.

They said this is doing this because my car has a problem in the lower revs, but they don't know what it is??

Just been down to a vw specialist and they said my cam chain is rattling  :surprised: maybe this could be to down with the problem?? I don't think the cam follower or spark plugs have ever been changed either. Any input would be great thanks

Did they load the stock OEM remap to come to that conclusion?
Who's remap is that??

I doubt your flat spot is down to the cam chain. It's not a common fault for an Edition30 BYD engine.
Normally if a person complains of a noisey engine that the cam chain might need looking at, but without hearing any sort of audio on your issue, unless you load the stock OEM remap back on and take readings of everything on VCDS , your peeing in the breeze so to speak.

Carbon'd up inlets would normally give a poor cold start condition, or a lot of misfires on idle generally.

If you can load an audio video of your engine perhaps, and load the stock remap back on and see if the flat spot is less notable perhaps?
