Hi guys,

My name is Nino, 30 from South wales. I regretablly got rid of my R32, there were many many reasons. Mainly running costs, and what with me just becoming a father I needed something that didn't hurt my wage packet as hard.
On a plus side, I will be having the R featured in a coming issue of Volkswagen Driver mag which will be a great momentium for me, plus I have always wanted a car featured in a mag :)

The new owner of my R was a really nice bloke and not a chav thank god! I am truely happy to of seen my R go to a good home :)

Luckly for me, we both agreed of a straight trade, the Mk5 is on good mileage @ 68k, has full VW service history bar one service @ 60k which was done at an independant garage.
it has many upgrades such as, heated leathers, Arm rest, Sat nav, DSG.

Shes on a 55 plate but is a 2006 model with the BWA engine.

it needs some serious TLC with my cleaning products and machine polisher, will do once the weather stops being a complete pain in my back side  :fighting:

She is currently parked up at the moment until Thursday, booked into VW for a cambelt, tenioners, waterpump & coolent swap as it was last done @ 37k in 2010.
So from Friday I can start to enjoy the car which is tipicail because that is the day I go back to work  :driver:

Anyway, time for some pictures, sorry for the crap quality of some. :)












One question, what is the below button for???

The one on the right is to tell you one of the tyres is or has lost pressure

Hi Nino,
Looks as though you cherished your R32 - awesome car - wish I'd had one. All the years after uni I spent saving for a GTI - I bought a 2 year old 1.8t in 2002, and thought it was just such a quality car. VW had to pi$$ on my fire by then releasing the Anni, and then the R32! I'd have held off if I'd known they were coming...

Still, the mk5 gti is good fun as standard - doesn't need much at all to make it even better if you want to. Yours looks a well specced car and sensible miles on it.

Hope you will enjoy the mk5 - I do still miss my well modded mkiv, but love different aspects of the mk5. It still feels like progression over the mkiv in most ways - chassis dynamics for one, whilst interior-wise, the quality feels lower...

PS - guess the button you are querying is the 'SET' button which is for the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
By pressing and holding the button, it resets the datum reading for each tyre. It's not too advanced as far as I know - it works off the ABS sensors and revolutions of the wheel . I think there are loads of posts on here that can explain in more detail than I know of!

Looks a nice example, I have also moved from a mk4 but a 1.8t.

 The mk5 is better in most ways but I do miss the recaro's in the mk4 much better seats imo.

I did the exact same. Sold my mk4 r32 and got mk5 gti, a cool car but miss the noise of the r32.

No.  what you need to do is go to a garage and set all your tyre pressures correctly (or check they are ok etc).  When you know they are ALL correct, get in the car with the ignition on and hold the button down until you hear a beep/chime.  Any dash light for the tyre pressure will go out, and the car can now read any loss from 'your set pressures'.
