Forge BOV ... check engine light issue
« on: February 24, 2015, 01:52:12 am »
Hello everyone,

new member from ireland here.

decided to buy a forge blow off valve, installed it on my mk5 gti and first thought was that it felt very down on power and after approx 50km of driving the engine management light came on !

According to ECS-Tuning ...
Direct bolt on without worry of a check-engine light
This Atmospheric Blow-off Valve Spacer from Forge Motorsports is a first of its kind for the 2.0-liter TSI / TFSI engines. The spacer is a pressure release system that can be used with the stock diverter valve to vent extra boost air into the atmosphere instead of sending it back into the engine's intake piping.
The Forge spacer is a great solution for open air venting, without converting over to a full blow-off valve. Run it without worrying about a check engine light, as it is designed to circulate a certain amount of charge pressure to keep the engine running as it was from the factory.

Anyone have similar experiences like mine ? Only thing I could think of was that I never disconnected the battery while installing it ! Could that be a problem ?

Thanks and looking forward to hearing some replies !

Ditch the Forge BOV & Spacer. OEM DV is much better - the TFSI runs best with 100% boost recirculated to reduce turbo lag.

You won't get any errors with OEM parts and your engine will run better as a result  :happy2:

Pretty sure I've seen review that BOV doesn't hold boost therefore reduces performance?
I'm no expert tho, maybe someone can confirm this?
