CAM FOLLOWER REPLACMENT
« on: March 01, 2015, 12:30:05 pm »
I have a Mk5 Gti 2005 model and I'm planned on changing the cam follower, I've got everything apart but how in Gods name do you get to remove the banjo bolt from the under side of the pump.

If anyone can shed some light on an easy way I'd be grateful.

Thanks

There is lots of info about on the Internet about this task.. One such thread here:

I removed mine using a 1/2 drive socket set so there is room in there somewhere!

Yes is a triple square / spline. I have the socket set from halfords:
http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-equipment/socket-sets/halfords-advanced-professional-7-piece-spline-bit-socket-rail-1-2

I already had the set for other work done on the car, thought I'd give it a try and somehow manage to get to the bolt with this set and a few lengths and knuckles in the right places..
