Low washer fluid light
« on: February 05, 2015, 06:24:53 pm »
So after recently buying my gti I have discovered that my car (2007) doesn't have the warning light on the dash for low washer fluid level? My car was still under warranty when I noticed this but they then told me that it's in the spec. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought this would be a standard thing not an option?

Anyone else the same?

The low washer fluid warning light came as part of the winter pack. The rest of the pack is heated seats, heated washer jets and headlight washers. So if you don't have those things either then its correct that you have no warning light.

I have heated leather not sure if my washer jets are heated but I don't have headlight washers.

I find it pretty strange tbh. Lol

Its possible the heated seats were available as a separate option. I believe the washer fluid level warning is there for cars with headlight washers because they have a larger washer fluid tank to cope with the extra fluid use.

Ok so I so I wonder does this only apply to the gti models. because we have a standard gt in the house too with no optional extras but has the warning light.

It's no big issue just trying to figure out why I don't have it but you have cleared it up!

Thanks!

If you are that way inclined, it is easy to retrofit. I amsure Eddie-NL will make you the loom up and the tank sensor is a few quid.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

It's ok for now... there's a long list before that! I'm really just nit picking!

I also thought I had the warning light but I don't seem to. I have the heated leather and heated wing mirror glass but no headlight washers and as far as I know the bottle is not heated.

It's the actual jets that are heated on applicable cars, not the water bottle itself.. but the low fluid washer indicator appears to be on cars with Xenon headlights, and/or as part of the winter pack
