Took me around 6 months to find the 'right' car.  PITA to be honest.  Travelled around 500 miles to view what was described to me as near enough mint car and it turned out to be in shocking condition, lesson learnt!

Keep looking, you will find the car you want.  Just don't rush in and buy any old cr@p would be my advice.   :happy2:

Absolutely months.  I wanted white or shadow blue, leather and DSG.  I test-drove three and looked at four or five more.  I walked away from a perfect but over-priced one having travelled 400 miles to view it, then went back two weeks later and offered a cheeky bid.  I can't tell you how pleased I was when it was accepted!  It was worth it, too: I've kept it for four years.

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.

How long did it take for you to find the right car?  :fighting2:

I've been looking for nearly a month now and still nothing. Only seen a couple that would interest  me but they seem to be really far, Like Scotland or Past London...  :signLOL:

what are you looking for?

Saw plenty of sheds and a few nice but pricey ones, glad I waited, particularly reading some of the horror stories on here

When I brought the edition 30 was looking for about 5-6 months. I brought around the time when once one came up for sale at a dealership it was sold the same day! I wanted white to start with but I think it would have taken me another year to find one

One weekend, believe it or not!

I had a few cars lined up on the VW network - first was a Pirelli 5-dr at Oxford VW - was ok, but too much money for a very basic, no option car, with a door lock that didn't work. Honestly - you'd think a car on the forecourt would be without fault...

I then had planned to see an ED30 at VW Milton Keynes, but that sold before I could see it. So after that I went on to my car at Cardiff VW.
Thought I'd made a huge mistake when I got there on the Saturday as the car wasn't anywhere to be seen on the forecourt. After confusing a few sales staff, they found it and advised it only came in on part-ex the Friday night before, and was in the car park out back! No prep had taken place, and was absolutely filthy.

Still, must have been about the fastest sale they've had on a used car. Think I fell on my feet - it was properly grubby and well used - but could see through that, but I now appreciate all the options it has, that I didn't realise at the time!

As it took longer than antisapted to sell the Passat i missed out on three MK6 Golf GTD with exactly the spec i wanted, once i was able to buy there was absolutely nothing on the market. The one i ended up buying i had discounted as it was outside of my price range, i left an offer with the garage and 2 hours later they agreed so i had the car moved from their Milton Keynes garage to Southampton and the deal was done. I would have preferred Candy white but couldn't justify the colour premium.
