Superpro ball joints
« on: March 04, 2015, 03:53:47 pm »
These are an economical solution to getting -'ve camber adjustment but are they robust enough for track use?
I've no experience of them so I'd be grateful for any input from users of these.

No point in phoning retailers as they wouldn't say 'Yeah, we sell those, they're sh*t'.  :signLOL:

I do track days maybe 6 or 7 times a year and need something that can stand up to this and not be problematic.

Thanks.  :drinking:

I dont see why not flash. One thing you do get with these is a tendency to very slightly (and i mean very) wander when driving in a straight-line (ie motorway)

I've never noticed that above.

Hence the reiteration of "very slight"

But surely it could be fixed with a few goes on the alignment ???

These also effect big brake kits...
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Good idea  :happy2:

I wonder could it be the fact they are adjustable, they could move slightly ?    :scared:
I have thought about making some kind of shim to fit in the gap, so they deffo will not move.

Also, did you notice much difference when you fitted these, I changed lots of  parts over at the same time, so i find it hard to say

Hmmm...my discs will be 355mm x 32 thick.

You might just get away with it...

They are just "bulker" than the OEM ones. The adjustment doesnt effect the adjust clearance.

You might be ok with those discs... depends on the offset.

When you say wander do you mean tram lining?
I'd like to try understand what exactly happens to cause this as I know certain elements of the geometry (aside from camber) change. Track I believe is affected and roll centres can change for example.

Have you tracked yours with these fitted?

Not after looks, just function.

Well the function really well. In terms of increasing grip mid corner they do that, due to the added camber. I think what I have mentioned above is me being very critical. It just doesn't feel quite as "locked in" on the motorway as I remember, but my subframe is still causing me grief so it could be that!

Thanks for that Rich, I think I'll give AKS a ring and order a set tomorrow. Sounds like they'll be OK.
By how much is yours lowered, if at all?

Seems all back to normal.. no funny 'straying' on motorways now. Must have been all the f*cking about with the subframe! :happy2:
