Best place to buy and install bluetooth kit for RNS510
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:37:31 pm »
Well as the title says, I am wanting to know where I could get the bluetooth kit and installed for the RNS510. I have seen the guy on ebay in leicester, but there must be other people out there? Any ideas?

From what STu told me today no not all VAG units work, there are different interfaces with different p/ns and software for different cars. Ask Stu he's in the know.

JPC, what did you pay for the Fiscon kit (basic plus)? Is this compatible with the iPhone?

And in your opinion is it worth it? I've debated getting bluetooth for a while now, kinda of hinges on how long I intend on keeping the motor!

The fiscon set me back about 350 euros I think. It works perfectly with the iPhone. It just works and works and works. Can't say that for many Bluetooth kits!

I have the parrot kit and it works great, but the only function you will get with the RNS510 is the Mute function.

Anyone got any idea of the part numbers for both the mounting bracket and for the black plastic cover to hide the kit?

Oh and my unit is 5N0 035 730 B (not sure if they are all the same dimensions  :ashamed:

The bracket you want is the black polystyrene one which is 1K0 919 737 M - suitable for 5N0035730x units (only seen reference to A & B variants). The Skoda (xxx035729x) unit is smaller and has a metal bracket.

As it happens I just installed the loom for my 730 kit today - didn't get round to installing the unit itself as I am waiting for another head unit to arrive, but at least the tricky bits are all done
'57 DSG GTI alas now gone, but not forgotten....
Now motorway cruising in a 61 Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.2 TDCi. 500+ miles to a tankful and bucketloads of torque :O Ok, it's not a GTI but it's fun... and that's what counts ;)

Damn I didn't know the skoda bracket was smaller! I ordered the bracket and cover and all the screws the other day from skoda (only £10 for the lot). If it dosen't fit I will get the poly one  :ashamed:
Thanks for the info markfive :happy2:

No probs mate.

There's a pic of a 729 unit installed here - compare with Darrens pics for the 730 here

You will have all the cut-outs for the 729 bracket under the seat, perhaps it can be "made" to fit the 730 unit?

If the cover fits I would be interested to know the p/n, as I still have got that bit yet.
