M25 cameras
« on: March 08, 2015, 11:58:29 pm »
Can the cameras catch you when the screens are blank, it was about 22:15 and the cameras were completely off (or appeared to be) 1 flashed me and then about 10 miles later another one did. Can they still get you? Has anybody been done when they appear to be off?

Depends where you were. They have a couple of cameras permanently set to 70mph between junctions 5 and 6. So if there is no speed limit on the gantry the camera is still set to 70mph. I think thats the only place on m25. The only other place with them is on m1 next to junction 27.

The ones near 5 and 6 are the "sneaky" grey ones on the side of the gantry. They are now round near the A10 junction both ways and now there's one either way between j28 & j29 (a12 & a127) and there's the frame work for them gone up on a gantry in each direction between j2 & j3 (a2 & m20).

The sneaky ones are always on at 70mph and are variable, the gantry ones are only on when there's a limit shown on the sign

Is it 2 weeks or 3 they have to send you the notice?

@rich83 too fast mate, don't want to say but if I'm caught my licence is gone really. I was on the way home from Amsterdam and in a hurry to get back.

I really hope you're correct mate, I haven't heard of any Grey cameras anywhere on the stretch I was on. This scare has already taught me a lesson tbh.

I don't know a single person who has ever had a fine/points from any so called variable speed limit camera yet I know plenty who have been caught by hand held cameras and the darlec type ones by the side of the roads. I have been through many so called variable limit camera spots late at night going above the limit at that time and never had a letter. This was before I new what they were
