MK5 GTI Bumper question
« on: March 09, 2015, 02:39:23 pm »
Hi All,

New to the forum so be nice :)

I don't have a GTI sadly, however I am hoping someone can help.

I want to fit a GTI look bumper to the wife's 2004 1.9 TDI

There's a number available on ebay. However, her car doesn't currently have fog lights. All the bumpers I can see come with holes where the fog lights would typically go.

I've researched and apparently fitting fog lights can be quite a hassle.

My question is - Can I order one of these bumpers, that comes with fog lights, and have the bumper and fog lights fitted, without needing to wire up the fogs (essentially the fog lights would be there, but not usable)

I.e, will there be fog light housings on my car, that the fogs will attach in to.

There should be some sort of mounts to bolt the light units too, but can't say for sure.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

GTI front bumper replica normally fit with normal fog lamps, so it's a strait fit for your Golf. You can get the normal fog lamps from the ebay or a scrap yard.

If you get an OEM GTI bumper you'll need to cut a bit of the styrofoam and the bumper to make it fit well. You'll also need to get GT/GTI fog lamps for it.

Connecting them isn't that hard if you contact someone who can do it for you. There are a few forum members who know how to retrofit many parts, including the fog lamps.

AFAIK GT/GTI reflector lamps use HB4 and GTI projector lamps use H11 (older version).

I checked Powerbulbs.co.uk to confirm. Many contradictions online.
