My local tyre fitter said he would gas in the morning.

If it fails to gas, he won't charge, I'll fit new G65 sensor and come back to him!

Glad to hear it as why waste money on a sensor if gassing may do the job  :happy2:

So I did update this on another thread but @jl1 here you are - I went to Leixlip tyres, they filled with new gas and it made no difference so they removed the gas and left the system empty.

I called VW for the part and it was €85 for just the sensor so I picked one up off aliexpress for maybe €6. Yes it takes a month to deliver but it's a big saving.

I'll then go to VW parts to get the O-Ring which I have the part number for.

I'll fit the lot in a month and go back to Leixlip tyres where they'll fill with gas again for around €50.

@jl1 you need to know for sure it's that sensor through VCDS and not one of the more likely other failures!

I dunno to be honest. If the bodge part breaks, all that's going to happen is he needs to replace it right? Worst case scenario, he buys one for 6 euro. It breaks/ arrives broken. He wasted 6 euro. Best case scenario - He buys one for 6 euro. It works fine. He's saved 79 euro. The risk in that is worth it in my eyes. If the bodge part was 20,30,40 euro then its a different story...

Same thinking @Peskyjones
It's only a minor sensor so I'm not that worried, anything major I wouldn't even think about a Chinese rip off but as it stands I've already saved myself a considerable amount of money! VW were looking for €99 for scan, €85 for sensor and another €100 for labour so all in it's my €55 versus their €284. Yes I have to wait a month and yes there was trial and error with gassing the system first to rule out that but it's still worth it in my eyes!

Because the bodge part means AC has to be refilled at another 50 euros cost plus labour or time to replace it.
If knew it was the sensor anyway you could have just bought the sensor for 85 quid.
I'd happily pay 30 quid more for a genuine sensor rather than a pikey piece from China, which you will probably have to pay 20% import on anyway.

I didn't know it was the sensor at first. It was a 50/50 that it was either low gas pressure or the sensor.

Again €6 for Chinese sensor and €85 for OEM.

Each to their own Jay. I chose to save my money as it's a minor part, I wouldn't do that on anything safety related!

So if this cheap sensor fails then it will need re gassing, not just a case of replacing the sensor with a genuine one this time? So the worst case scenario is actually cheap sensor fails, £ for regass + £ for genuine sensor? I said what I said thinking that it would just be a case of - replace cheap sensor with genuine sensor and its done - that would be worth the risk. Spend £4 to possibly save £60/70.

I don't think there is as the only two valve and the hot and cold side inlet valves. @tappy is there a valve where the pressure sensor fits mate?.

I'm not 100% sure as I haven't had to change one for a long time but I believe I have read somewhere that there is a valve.
