That's a good format, stealth :happy2: - It means that the original first post can be easily amended according to what info gets posted in subsequent posts. That way, we can collectively pool our info.

I see you've got a brain under your turban  [hopefully you know me well enough to know I'm joking with you]

It'll need a Moderator to run that first post and update it accordingly.

The turban is the brain! I'd be as dumb as a chimp without it!

yeah great format stealthwolf  :happy2:

The key is to give a potted history and useful info but necessarily make it hard for ourselves by trying to utilise some of the other data on the web as well.

If I was a GTI newbie with no info what would i want to know?

For me the perfect example (I know Im biased)

ED30 produced from x to y dates. limited to 2500 but actually made XXXXX
maybe we could find from VW how many of each colour ?
link to gareths ED30 info db
link to Nathans spare plaque ordering
link to contact info at VW if you dont have a plaque
link to product review sections relevant to item
common issues
recalls
weaknesses / strengths
Perfomance standard + modded
Add members cars links (jonnyc etc)

the data above could be given under group headings

Top Cat:
now you lot are starting to run with it yourselves, we can set something up John_o if you are willing to manage it and keep it reliable and tidy. There is a lot of info to collate and organise would you be happy to do this.  :innocent:

WhiteGTI:
Thats the problem - this requires a lot of research and time to do properly, and I'm not sure if anyone will have enough time to do it! I see the benefits of having such a resource, but surely its quite a big project - maybe too big?
