Rain Sensor Replacement
« on: March 12, 2015, 05:47:51 pm »
Guys, I'm 99% sure i have a faulty sensor, not to long ago my aftermarket HID kit blew my wiper motor & ever since had issues with my auto lights & auto wipers. Checked all the fuses and only thing I can think is causing this is a faulty sensor, I've gave the glass a good clean but still no luck.

I'm looking to change the sensor but not sure which part number i'd need & also what is the process of getting the old one off and reapplying the new one. I think ill get a second hand sensor what else will i need.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you still have the aftermarket HID kit fitted?
Might be that causing the issues - best just pop it in the bin  :drinking:

Some guys report programming for xenons without shutters avoids the wiper motor blowing, did you have that done?

Nope, don't have access to VAG-COM. I've now brought MTEC Cosmos Blue bulbs and prefer them now

Would be worth having your codes read and that will probably point you in the correct direction.
The HID kit could have fried one of your sensors when it blew the wiper motor - I imagine they are fairly sensitive.
Whereabouts are you in the UK? There must be someone close who could help  :happy2:

Didn't think to do that. Think ill give that a go before changing the sensor in-case it isn't that. Thanks!  :happy2:

I live in Essex do you know how to find out if anyone's local?
