What bluetooth module for future Highline upgrade?
« on: March 13, 2015, 10:09:17 pm »
Folks, I'm aware that topics on bluetooth are done to death, however I have an alternative query.

At present my car just has midline. I'll be fitting a MFSW in due course too. As an iPhone user, from what I can gather the 5k0 or 7p6 kits are the 1s that I require. However, in the future it is my intention to upgrade to a highline cluster. Will these kits work with both midline and highline dashs? If not, which kit should I opt for?

Thanks in advance.

They will only work with highline dash if you but an adaptor that sits near the can gateway,  approx another 100 quid

Will not work on midline at all

Thanks. Sorry I didn't mean actually display in the midline (I know it will just display in the highline), I just meant that it will work in a car with midline- albeit controlled by the RNS.

The same will still be true if I upgrade to the highline prior to getting the adapter you posted?

So there's no module that I can get and use now, that will automatically work in the highline too without said box?

There are some older Bluetooths thst people try and seek out that work with red and white displays,  but some are rsap some don't carry a2dp some are really expensive.

Its a bit of a minefield,  both 5k0 7p6 will work with just 510 and you can pick these up cheap,  well what I call cheap anyway,  then if you add red highline an extra 100 quid is nothing to get it in display,  or if you upgrade to white display you won't need the extra 100 quid module

Super, thanks. 5k0 it is!

Don't start me on white Highlines, I'm already baffled by the red upgrade as it is!

Really the difference between the 970, 971 and 972 clocks compared to the 973 and 974. From what I can see the former are easier to fit and code?

But can they be fitted to an 07 GTi, and what exact info is required? Mileage, SKC etc.
