A question about gti sideskirts.
« on: March 09, 2015, 08:05:53 pm »
Does anyone know if gti and r32 side skirts are the same part, part from the r32 skirts are smoothed? Its for an mk5 gti

Reason i'm asking is i want to wrap my car but the gti side skirts are textured so the wrap probably won't bond.

Or any other alternative am open to ideas.

Cheers

The sideskirts have the same shape but the R32/Ed. 30 are smoothed and are primed coated, so they're ready to be painted, hence much more expensive.

You can get the textured GTI sideskirts and then sand them until they're smooth.

I know i could sand them but that would take me too much time and i don't really have time lol.

Hopfully i can get a pair of 2nd hand r32 skirts.

You could have high build primer applied and then a quick flatten, much cheaper than buying new from VW.

Decided just to leave as they are as the car is anthracite grey so actually go well.
