which spacers to buy
« on: March 22, 2015, 11:36:14 am »
hi everyone,

after a lot of faff with my coil overs, i need some spacers. I've got 19" wheels, pretty low and the tyres are rubbing a little on the springs up front. which size spacers would you go for without having to mod the arches too much (i've already removed the screw for the lining).

looking on ebay and other car sites i was thinking 10mm or 12mm.

looking to order some tonight.

thanks in advance!

they are Rotiform DIA - 19" Wheels 19 x 8.5J

it seems it rubbing just a little. i can hear it from in the car but theses no marks on the tyre and only slightly on the spring so it can't be too bad.

It all depends on what offset your wheels are.
I'm assuming yours are around et45 so fitting a 10mm spacer would lower the offset to 35 and unless you have your arches rolled and a 215/35 tyre your going to get rubbing on the arch

Ideally you want to get the minimum size spacers to get rid of the rubbing on your springs otherwise your just going to transfer any rubbing from the inside to the outside of the wheel

yes et is 45 and they have 225 tyres. ok think i will just get some small ones maybe 5mm and see if that helps. will there be any need for extended wheel bolts for such a small mm difference? thanks for your help

Yes you need to get longer bolts
Stock thread length is 27mm so you will need 5mm longer if you  get 5mm spacers

Also make sure the spacers are hub centric otherwise you will get a vibration while driving
