I asked vw about my fuel filter they said they don't change them on petrols anymore. It's just done 50k

^^^^ It's a filter, change it. I have mine changed every major service

he was adamant it wouldn't be getting done on a major service. I've always changed them myself in the past i guess vw know best

It's not scheduled by VW to be changed at all. A true lifetime component...

They told me the exact same thing but I demanded they do it. I was paying for it after all.

As part of VW's service promise you can request the old parts within 2 days of a service so I did.

I cut the fuel filter right down the middle and it was filthy and clogged with a good bit of crud.

I ended up taking photos and uploaded them on here somewhere...

DO IT! What do you stand to lose, for the record my service was done at 65K miles.

Yeah I don't mind doing it Id just rather they had done it when I paid like £250 for basically oil and spark plugs and a stamp in the book

The fuel filter part is about £15 by the way
