I think I paid about £40 for the stalk, and then one of my mechanics did the rest.

Update - I've ordered the fiscon and the glovebox mdi, so should be all in by Friday.

Another quick question.

My units part number is;

1TO 035 680 B

I presume this is a B version and will have the latest software?

Cheers

It is indeed a  version, as to what sw, you need to delve deep into the menu's on the set................

A geek will be along shortly to let you know how to do that!

I'm not falling for that one QD.  :P

To find the SW version open the car, turn the unit on and press and hold the setup button for quite a while, 60 secs I think.

60s? I press mine for something like 10-20 seconds.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

If that doesnt work, which if its 100% original it shouldnt (because its a version B). Then you'll need VAGCOM to change a setting to allow the setup menu to come up. I had to do this on mine. Simply just changing one of the bits from "0" to "1" or vice-versa etc on the nav controller.

EDIT: Just found it....

Quote
Using Vagcom/VCDS open Channel 37 – Navigation, go into adaption and change channel 50 to 1 (will be 0).

Do you know which version you had? As far as I know you only had to change it for 266x. The previous version I had didn't need it.

@ QD, don't think I missed that.  :booty:

@Hedge I'm pretty sure I'm on 900 or something, ancient I know!

On another note,

Has anyone managed to get their dealer to upgrade the firmware? Mine's going in next Monday so might see if they'll do it. I just dont wanna risk bricking it.

Is yours OEM or afters Pazz?

I took a chance as mine was factory fit and I was fine but I have heard of aftermarket ones that brick especially if they are a Heinz 57 special.
