so far I have investigated:

Appradio (but has compatibility issues with s5 and compatibility is unclear anyway)
Chinese units on ebay (no DAB and possible poor quality/function)

Tbh I think you'll struggle to get everything you want in a HU for £250.
You might have to make some compromises somewhere.

I've got a Chinese one, doesn't have DAB but has everything else on there, the user interface isn't as good as OEM but it does everything I want it to and ive had no issues from it.
Mine cost me £100 second hand and I'm more than happy with it.

With a bit of luck maybe you could get second hand unit in ebay. I bought my Kenwood HU for £205. I spent around £250 in the end and install it myself.

Have you checked out the audio section of the forum?

Pioneer do a unit that matches your criteria but it's £60 over your budget;

thanks guys. the AVH-X3600DAB is a funny one. if you check the pioneer website most functions don't work with android.
