Hi guys, joined a few months back and I've been taking in as much info as I can! Unfortunately for me my mk5 gti has been troublesome but looking through this forum has saved me a lot of money and finally introduced me to JKM at Portsmouth. Down there yesterday for some other work and a stage 1 revo (the start of a slippery slope I'm sure!) even run into another forum member! Posting now as I want to share a word of warning with anyone thinking about a forge wastegate - DONT DO IT!!!
I did thinking it would solve my fluctuating boost and all it's done is cost me loads of money and it made my car run like a dog after numerous adjustments. Turns out it was the bluefin on my particular car because after a full day at JKM with my turbo off and returned to standard it now runs and drives as it should! Now I'm happy!!

What was wrong with the bluefin? I am lead to believe the stage 1 is good for what it is and is on a lot of GTI's. There customer service from past experience is excellent. Or did it not run right with the Forge item?

I had fluctuating boost issues and a very apparent flat spot at 5k. I replaced all the usual suspects DV, PCV, cam follower, MAF,and plugs so I thought it was fuel related but after logging with vcds it didn't look like it. I bought the wastegate as a last ditch attempt at sorting it thinking it was bleeding boost but this was a costly mistake!  I contacted superchips on numerous occasions and got the standard "well everyone else is on the same map with no problems" but they did send me 2 different maps which didn't make any difference. Put revo stg 1 on it and problem gone!

Yeah love it now! Now I can finally get to drive the car in anger and get to know it a bit more. I definatly have the modding bug tho lol, maybe exhaust and intake next.
