Misfire - no CEL?
« on: March 27, 2015, 03:14:01 pm »
Car has developed an occasional misfire, but no engine light at all, even when trying to load the engine when its missing...

Need to plug the VCDS on when I get home to double check but does this sound weird? Felt like coil pack (had one go before) but that threw the light on..

Cheers

Could be a huge range of things, tho it might not have popped a check light, cause it's only missing every so often.
As u said have a look with vagcom for any 'soft' errors.
There is no replacement for displacement....
But a turbo does help....

Cool - cheers. Just wanted to check that there could still be error codes without the CEL.

Cant find my VCDS cable but ran Diagnostics on my Bluefin - only showing P0441 which I think is unrelated?

You may have injector issues which won't throw a CEL light Untill the misfire count hits above the permitted amount.

Use VCDS and check blocks 15 and 16 under engine cylinder live misfires to watch what each cylinder is doing.

Very common issue unfortunately , excessive carbon build up on the induction side may well be to blame.
