Looks great, just go steady as I have caught mine on a few high kerbs when parking! Did you tint your windows or are they factory?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the heads up, regarding the front lip  :happy2:

The previous owner put the tints in, I was thinking of removing them as they make my son travel sick  as it feels bit suppressive in the back!

I was pulled over by the police months ago and was told to remove the front tints as they were way too dark... I wasn't bothered as I didn't like them anyway

Thanks Jay, I must admit, I was lucky to find it, so I didn't hesitate buying it. I'm very happy with how it's come out too

Hi Rog, quick question, did you replace the exhaust on your GTI or polish it up?

I've just picked up an 05 DSG in red and whilst in good condition for it's age does need some love like you have given yours.

Thanks

I have tried polishing mine up, ive spent hours on it but can't get it properly shiny. It also looks like some bits have corroded so badly there is section loss.

I use a brillo pad type thing, some wire wool and autosol. If Rog/ anyone can run through their procedure and how long it took them that'd be great

Quickest way to sort the exhaust is to get some new tips (If you look at my project thread I just fitted some to mine)

Yeah I saw that, I think rog also comented in the thread.

Where did you get them from?

Just search Audi A4/B8 Exhaust trims. As long as they are 75mm in diameter they will squeeze over the original.

Saw some on amazon but it actually lists them as 7.3cm which I take is close enough? I also read some reviews of spot rusting on them, I might leave it a while and see what happens to yours :innocent:

Polishing up the exhaust tips, can take quite some time. Mine took repeat polishing to get them to look ok, they certainly aren't perfect.

The way I did mine, the initial time:- using Autosol and a fine grade wirewool (from halfrauds), I gave them a good scrub, using front to back strokes. Then with the Britemax Twins metal polish, repeated with the wire wool, then the same again with a microfibre towel. Then buff to a shine and seal to help protect them.

Any major carbon build up, around the tip edges, I carefully scraped off with a flat head screwdriver. Then I repeated the process, until I was happy as I could be with the finish.

There are many different products on the market, to help get the desired results. Normally, all it takes is a little knowledge, time and effort  :happy2:

The A4 tips Jay used over the top sound like a cool solution, I will check them out and see. Although my look good enough for me at the moment
