« on: April 01, 2015, 07:43:03 pm »
Do all gtis have inline thermostats aswell as the main? I have an 05 and was wondering if i should have one, two or any at all?

Also why do we need them?

I have 2005 gti with DSg which has 2 inline stats and the main stat. If your car doesn't get to 90 degrees then it's the main stat. If it gets there eventually but takes ages then it's the inline stats which regulate flow of water. I did the main one first. And then discovered it took ages so replaced inline too, on mine the dsg stat was stuck right open. Gets to optimum temp in 3 miles now, instead of never.  :surprised:

mine is a manual so I should only have the main stat and one inline right?

my car rarely gets up to temp and if it does it takes forever! its been like that a while but now im bored of crappy fuel consumption and no hot air through the heaters.  As im planning to do the cambelt and water pump soon I figured I may aswell renew the stats aswell.
