« on: April 02, 2015, 05:10:09 pm »
Hi

I'm fairly new to this and my knowledge is limited and need some help on something

Can anyone tell me if this is a genuine vw xenon headlight? I know its retro fitted but was wondering what type of bulb I would need if it needed replacing

It's an aftermarket hId kit so not genuine. The headlight is, I think a standard halogen unit.

I agree - looks like HID in Halogen unit, the very worst combination!
Your lights probably dazzle oncoming traffic with their poor light pattern
You should try and get some projector headlamps or switch back to Halogen bulbs

1K6941031A that is a genuine projector headlight    not a halogen reflector one

if thats a pic of your car then you are ok and will not dazzle any oncoming traffic providing that they are aligned correctly

looking at how it is wired up it looks like a hid kit so just remove the connector and the bulb should be  d2s or h7

to remove it it looks like one of them twist to release clips as in the standard factory xenon headlights

can you post up a pic of the ballast. i want to know what make they are  :happy2:

Cheers mate

Unfortunately I didn't take one with the headlight off, it's screwed to the bottom of it and the lights are back on the car

I'll see if I can get to it and take a pic at some point today mate
