Arm rest with MDI headunit?
« on: March 29, 2015, 10:35:17 pm »
I have finally got round to sorting myself out with an arm rest and it has the MDI plug.....however I have the RCD 300 headunit.

What heat unit do I need make it functional, I know you can 'cheaper' head units but I don't want to spoil interior of my MK5 with a tacky looking stereo.

RCD510 will do me nicely, more in my price range over a RNS510...

Just need to hope my arm rest come withe the cable or i'll be on the hunt again...

As my car has never had an MDI before and I putting a new head unit it will I need to get it coded or should it be plug and play?

Hi you'll more than likely need to buy an MDI loom in order for the MDI to work with the head unit, once all wired up it should work as plug and play but there would be no harm plugging in vcds. This would just match the new system with the canbus gateway.
