Dog Bone Bush With Miltek
« on: March 29, 2015, 09:09:47 am »
Hi,

Fitted my new turbo back Miltek yesterday and included in the box it transpires was a SuperPro Lower Torque Arm insert bush, however as there was no instructions or reference to what it was we didn't fit it. After a bit of research i now know what it is.

Is the worth fitting ?,what are the downsides ?, more vibration etc ?

How hard is it to fit, its a real pain as the car was on the ramp yesterday and would have been much easier then i am sure !

Cheers

It takes 5 mins to put it in. Not much extra vibration... but helps to stop the engine rocking and destroying weak exhaust hangers.

Can it be done on axle stands ?, I don't want to have to go back to the garage that fitted the exhaust.

Did mine on the driveway, car on (railway sleeper) ramps. As long as you have a torque wrench, it really is just a case of undoing one bolt, greasing up insert, sliding in then doing it back up.  I believe tightening torque is 74 ft/lbs , plus do a quarter turn once at correct torque. (check that torque tho).
I have no extra vibration, in fact the engine used to transmit a slight shudder occasionally at tick-over (prob a slightly dirty injector i thought), this has gone now with the bush added. So I 'know' it reduces movement, but I reckon any other effects I can feel are probably placebo.

The standard bushes wear quick on a standard car, with the downpipe the bush will wear quicker hence why they are now included with Milltek downpipes :)

Fitted it on the drive, fairly simple to do and made a massive difference !, well worth doing !, no  extra vibration but a massive improvement in gear change and general engine movement

Cheers all  :happy2:
