Yeap. I only drove around 1000 km since I bought it.

It's all for the higher purpose of having it in top shape before I get it tuned. I wasn't expecting that it would take so much time but I prefer to have all done properly, than done in a rush or by someone not as careful as this mechanic is.

He can only work on it in his off hours and he was 2 weeks on holidays as well. It shouldn't take much more time, I think.

The brakes are really massive. Holding a caliper in my hands was awesome, such a big thing.
I have a friend who has them in his mk5 GTI APR Stage 3 with around 400 HP and he praises them and my mechanic liked them as well, not counting the easily available online feedback. I can't wait to have a go at them.

Here's another weekly update.

My mechanic is still waiting for the last injector seal kit to finish fitting the intake manifold. He told me if he receives it next Monday he'll be able to deliver the car next week. Well, I can wait another week if needed, although it has been a long time since I drove it.

My mechanic told me that these alternators are much worse quality than the mk4 diesel Golfs (specifically the PD150). Not sure how often people have problems with their alternators...

Nice built...Now go for Awd swap ... I have an Mfacrory Dsg Lsd laying in my garage since i went awd and never install it..i would love i have done to see how it would be..For carbon built up i think methanol kit would help to keep it cleaner..

Thanks for your suggestion. For the time being I just want to have the car back from the shop, then map it to Stage 2+, drive it and only after that see if I need to upgrade anything else. If I see that I'll need the LSD, I'll contact you to see if you still have it and for what price you'll sell it.

About the carbon built up in the inlet, I think it's due to the engine running cold due to the malfunctioning DSG thermostat and the previous owner not driving the car fast enough often. I hope that with the PCV delete and Forge oil catch can I can decrease that problem. I know that a water/methanol kit would be the best option but I've spent a lot in a short time (car + upgrades), I have to pace the costs as well.

I've seen your external DSG oil cooler and I liked it a lot. I'll talk about it with my mechanic to see what he has to say.

Yeah, it's safer to have that fitted as well when it's cold, or the DSG will take longer to heat up to normal temperature. Apart from the cost I don't see any disadvantage.
