So last Monday I got the new tyres fitted.

So far I can say that they seem a bit more comfortable on daily driving and have a bit better wet grip. Unfortunately these tyres are catching the wheel arch top edge on bigger bumps and potholes. I'm going to see if I get that sorted this Saturday.

Nice updates

My rack will need replacing at some point as it knocks also, so I'll probably do the same as yours!

LSDs are hard to get right on FWD. They're great in the dry but in the wet, they can be a hinderance as you don't want both wheels spinning mid corner!  I reckon the Wavetrac with the MK6 XDS ABS ECU is probably the best every day package.  The Wavetrac combines advantages of torque biasing and plate diffs.  Normal ATB diffs like Quaife and Peloquins still need a minimum of 5% traction on one wheel, otherwise one wheel will still spin like an open diff.  They're both useless in snow and ice.  The Wavetrac offers a bit of traction in zero load conditions, but will never match a full plate diff.  Plate diffs can be a pain in the neck in a road car.  Noisy and require maintenance to replace worn plates, but a road spec Gripper diff is apparently the best of them.

Anyway, XDS + Wavetrac is the way forward  :happy2:  The MK5's XDS only works up 40ish mph and is easily overwhelmed by remap/BT torque.  The MK6 XDS is full time at any speed (iirc) and is way more effective.

I have the experience of the XDS on my wife's Golf. It works beautifully on roundabouts but on fast corners I don't like it that much. It cuts too much the power, but the car doesn't understeer, to be fair. The mk5 TC doesn't have XDS available, as far as I know it just brakes both wheels when it detects wheel slip. XDS will only brake the wheel on the inside of the curve to make the car turn better.

About the LSD, well, I don't have snow or ice where I live so I never felt any issue with my ATB LSD. It works pretty well. If I ever need it to work with one wheel up it the air I can always apply a bit of brake pressure. I don't remember ever needing to do that trick, though. I know the Wavetrac LSD is better but it would cost me almost double the price of what I paid for my MFactory one. :innocent:

I've solved the wheel arch tyre rubbing with a bit of roll fender. These tyres grip better than the Federal on dry roads too. I'm having more fun being able to corner faster now. :driver:

Hi, I see you mentioned the below 6 different parts for the rear axle covers, are they 6 different parts?  Thanks

Mk5 Golf Bluemotion rear axle cover (1K0501713C; 1K0501682; N90548305; N90183802)

Bluemotion rear axle lining (1K0825206A & 1K0501713D

and did this lpfp fit ok in the housing?

On this car only the rear axle cover fits (1K0501713C; 1K0501682; N90548305; N90183802). The other cover doesn't fit because there's an exhaust box there.

The DW65v only fits on the basket that can be opened, so you can replace the factory pump with the upgraded one.

I've read the DW65 doesn't fit in the later LPFPs with no lid.  Are you running that with the OEM controller?  Any surging problems with a low fuel level?

I ordered an used pump that can be opened. I've shared the part number (1K0919051AE) on the post where I talked about fitting the DW65v. I'm running the OEM controller with a tweak on the tune to limit the pump's duty cycle and requested pressure. I can run with 15 L in the fuel tank. With less I've not pushed the car.

So what has happened since my last post...

I've clocked some times using Dragy GPS: 0-100 km/h; 0-1/4 mile; 100-200 km/h; 100-0 km/h

Later I decided to fit wider front arches from SRS-Tec and have the car resprayed. I also replaced the Continental SC5 for Michelin PSS on my OZ Ultras. I was waiting for the new rear lettering to arrive when I took these pictures:

Went to watch the March track day at Estoril. I've booked one session next month.

New upgrade fitted! I've been wanting to get this pulley since I've known its existence. :jumping: Got it from AKS Tuning with a new set of R8 coil packs to help the shipping costs.

Can't really notice any difference while driving around town but I’ve driven faster and the engine revs smoother. Not sure if it sounds a bit different, could just be that I’m looking for any change... 😅 Well, it has a TTE420 fitted with stock internals, so I hope this helps with the reliability of the engine.  :innocent:

Very good acceleration times  :happy2:

Yeah, I wasn't convinced the Fluidampr would be very noticeable and you've confirmed it

Went to do a few laps around Estoril's circuit last Wednesday. Always fun to push the car to its limits and this time mostly with friends on track, since we booked almost all of the slots available on that session.

The AD08R tyres behaved really well. I could brake later and turn with a bit more confidence than with the Federal. :driver:
The new IC also performed well, so it was money well spent. So far I've never seen it reach +10ºC above ambient temperature at WOT.

I've booked to return there next month.

12.84 for the 1/4 mile is an awesome time for a FWD car (al least in my book).
The car is looking great, as always!  :drinking:

Cheers rex! :drinking:

I hope I can improve that time in the future with more practice since I'm getting too much wheel spin at the start. :ashamed:
