1K0 907 530 L can gateway but what versions of RNS/RCD 310/510 will work ?

Hi, 1st time doing this so here we go. The information given has been of great help so far.May need some further help directly but will ask. Eddie and his bits may also be needed but further help to that ends will very much be needed.

An 06 GTI will not have come with an L or above, unless an ex owner has swapped it out.

The very last release of a K version doesn't have battery drain, you may have a K. Still you either need to take a pic of the sticker or get a VCDS scan to see the software revision on it.

so i can guarantee on my 54 plate car that i don't have the right version, especially as its battery dead on the drive after installing a rcd 310 ( clearly i like to learn the hard way) but if i was to find a later canbus gateway to buy on the internet somewhere would it still need to be coded or is it fine just to plug it in??

Yes, not a chance yours left the factory with a newer gateway.

@Eddie-NL still sells them pre-coded so you can plug and play it.
