About to buy a RNS510, which extra bits needed?
« on: April 07, 2015, 11:46:25 am »
Hi guys as the title says im swapping my rcd300 (or something like that) for a RNS510, I have a March 2007 Eddy.

I know I need a aerial adapter etc the one I am buying is not dav just led and it is VERSION P, will this work without a new canbus in my car if not which versions would work without a new canbus?
I have a MFSW and Cruise to fit and VW ipod kit already in the glovebox linked up which I would swap over too.

Other than that is it just plug and play? It's had all the latest software and hardware updated etc.

Thanks in advance! :drinking:

I would check your gateway, if its older than a K version, you need to update it.

You will need a FAKRA adapter for the radio.

When you have a MFSW fitted just make sure thats coded properly so you can go through the menu's (if you have a highline cluster fitted)

remove the canbus gateway and reading the label is the only other way but its easier to scan using vcds

Il get a local person who's fitting my intercooler to scan it for me!

One that's advertised said they can change the software so it doesn't cause battery drain! Is this correct or b******t?
Thanks

In my personal experience, i have downgraded A, B and C, versions (non LED) and installed modified firmware and had no issues.  I had a version D LED once and used the same firmware but I got the battery drain and also my reverse camera stopped working, so just got a new gateway and both issues were fixed.

it depends on the year. Ive only changed it on a 05 and 55 plate and its always been above the clutch.

according to this guide, its under the wiper arms
