Little things about the MKV you never knew..
« on: April 07, 2015, 09:09:57 pm »
DSG Launch control... wouldn't have know about this without youtube.
Opening all 4 windows from the keyfob... read this on here the other day.
Tried it today and giggled like a school kid! :signLOL:
Ipod connection, press the cd button twice, read on here

Any more? I'm sure there's loads without using laptop trickery!

If you have the patience, you can make the display on your clocks show oil temp, pressure, voltage ect... There are hidden ways that VW technitions know to save them wheeling out diagnostic kit every time. Sadly I don't know them yet but one day...

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

My old mk1 Leon had this featur.  You used to hold the heater buttons down and it'll come up on the climate control.

I have DSG and have never tried the launch control and haven't really needed to.

I'm sure a lot of GTI drivers ( Remember  VW have sold loads of these ) do not have a clue about LC and have no need to use it.

If you hold down Auto Button for about 3 seconds on the dual zone climate control it will sync up both sides.

@th3_f15t  it doesn't actually show oil temp. It's the air con diagnostics menu so oil temp would be of no interest to diagnosing a fault with that system, although a lot of the old forum posts still show it as oil temp.

I used the 19.2 setting to diagnose my Thermostat failing as it's more accurate than the dash gauge

Really. Bought a DSG on the spur of the moment, where on the dash is the launch control button?
I certainly haven't read all the manual, or every post on here, so where else do people find out things? :rolleye:

Is the fuel filler cap on the mk5 designed to sit on the top of the filler cap when filling up with fuel?

The cap has slots on it... Just wondered, so it doesn't hang down on the side of the car when filling?

Put the box into S, esp off, foot on the break and floor it, will sit about 2,000 rpm till you loft your foot off the break.

LOL! Thanks I know that now, my original point was I didn't know until I found it on youtube, and having not read the manual wouldn't have known about it.
