edition 30 or r32

cant decide between a r32 or a edition 30, people say that the edition 30s power can be underrated at 230, do you guys prefer a ed30 or a r32, both can be bought sub 15k now

wont really be doin any modifying,apart from maybe a remap, ive heard some ed30 standard have rollin road at more than 230 just which one is  the better drive, holds its money better

ed 30's have been holding there value well and remap to 300bhp whereas youll be lucky to see +10bhp remaping the r32.

ld that be one of the plug in removable remaps so not to affect insurances, i like turbos after selling my type r so would am thinking ed30. anything to look out for, the cars done around 38k , anything to look for

both are great cars, depends how fast you want to go

R32 is pretty much pegged at stock hp (unless you turbo/supercharge it = 5k+), but a great sound. dont forget roadtax on certain years is pretty hefty now too!
white ones are uber rare and worth having for the 'cache' / resale value

E30, straight to 300 bhp and beyond with a remap right up to 360 or more (jonnyc/Hurdy) on the std K04
pretty common (except white) but holding value well

get a drive of both in std form , then drive a remapped edition 30.

The ED30 will destroy an R32 after a map mate so it depends what you are after.

I went from my type r to an R32 and loved it as i prefer N/A engines with immediate power and the 32's is a nice N/A with low down torque and a V6 rumble. That coupled with all weather grip from the haldex makes it lovely to drive even in this current rain.

If you are keeping it standard get an R32 as its the better all rounder, if you are modding then the ED30 is the one you want.

You will get more responses for the ED30 being a gti forum and the same would apply to being biased to the R32 if you ask on R32oc.
Get yourself a drive of both (try and do it in the dry and wet if you can in both) and see which you prefer.

The noise is amazing but you pay the price in fuel, trust me. I drive through blackwall tunnel every morning to work (about 4am) so its quiet and my right foot is causing me some mpg problems

When I was looking at buying a mk4, I did consider the R32 but the poor mpg put me off. So I kept looking at the mk4 GTIs. Until I saw a mk5 GTI and fell in love.

The mk4 is much worse than a DSG mk5 for some reason. I get quite good mpg (if i dont floor it through the blackwall tunnel) I drive walthamstow to lewisham (north to south london) and average about 23 mpg with a mixture of slow roads with speed bumps and some fast dual carriageway roads. Motorway is an easy 30mpg.
