Rear Automatic Boot Opening

At 1:26 on this video, the chap has added springs that lift the Boot Lid open automatically.

Pretty nice mod,

IIRC somebody else on here has done the same thing to their car.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

the trick is to fit the audi system that sets the height and both auto closes and opens from the button, very trick...massive cost to retro fit though  :scared:

...not that i looked into it  :innocent:

I disagree... Very useful when approaching the car with something in both hands. My Mum's Q7 does it and it's very handy with shopping.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

my dads car does it too and its very handy.

if your carrying something with both hands, you dont need to put it down or anything. or if its in the rain or something, its miles faster

....

This feature was on the new S4 Avant I borrowed but I kept banging my head on the rear door because of wearing a baseball cap and it opening in two stages. It wouldn't be very clever in a low ceiling garage either.

But I can see how it could be useful for some. I thought it looked rather cool and flash to approach your car and remotely open the boot.

What's that black undertray in that Pirelli vid?

Some markets, Nordic for example, have more underbody protection due to weather conditions etc. The added benefit of this protection is that it can smooth out air flow beneath the car resulting in improved stability at speed. You can see the plastic is fluted like a small diffuser. Perhaps someone in Germany has decided/worked out that adding this helps keep the car more planted? Or, he lives out in the sticks and just want's better under-body protection.

....Having ripped out a sensor and something else under my car - I gulp everytime I see a dead animal in my path which is bigger than a hedgehog - I think I might find this mod beneficial.

Next task is where to find one. Google is my fwend

....I love it too. All I can tell you is that it's sampling a Guns 'n Roses' guitar riff by Slash in their song "Sweet Child O' Mine".

^ :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: ^

I once saw Slash play with Michael Jackson live - Awesome! Both showmen of great style.
