Depends.

My vRS has them on the front due to running wider wheels with a lower offset bringing the wheel and tyre nicely flush with the front arches. Having just spent £600+ on having my side skirts repainted (due to stone chips); I would rather fit flaps (which don't look terrible) than damage my nice new sills.

I would have them, but only to show how much the car was lowered.... i.e. scraping on the ground.
There is no replacement for displacement....
But a turbo does help....

I have rears mainly because when I colour coded my lower rear bumper I didn't want to code the side skirts ,my mate tried this and ended up doing the skirts because it looks odd , I tried flaps so the side skirts didn't look out of place black ad I think it works , I even think it works from the rear as the centre of the rear valance is black

where did you get them from, i thought flaps didnt fit gti models?

VW you can get GTI ones , standard ones but not ED 30 or R32 ones

Correct, it's mentioned you can fit GTI rears to ED30/R32 bumpers with persuasion from heat gun but I haven't tried this myself

Thanks for replies ,I'm going to take them off and see how it looks ,my wheels are wide so just hope it don't get dirty.
