Tyre - Screws

Last week my pressure sensor went off so I briefly checked the tyre and re inflated but missed the damage.

Took the tyre off today after dropping .4bar in a week and I see these 2 screws.

I've ordered a new tyre which won't be here until Monday.

Will I be ok for the week? Considering I already made it a week!

Why don't you drive around on it for a week and find out?

I just don't think there's anyone out there who could give you a meaningful answer, so I gave you a pointless one instead.
It very may well have been fine with you constantly pumping it up for the remaining life of the tyre. Or it could have blown out tomorrow even at the correct pressures.

It wouldn't bother me if I was just driving to/from work for example. If I was driving to Scotland then yes, it would.

Now that's the sort of reassurance I was hoping for.

I have a 5 minute drive to the gym and work so I should probably still be able to continue with those until the new tyre arrives before I make the 150mile trip home!

It was more to see if anyone has past experience with a similar situation where it ended well (or explosively).

Quick update actually, as you can see from the photo there are 2 nails in the tyre.

Any tyre fitters able to tell me if this can be plugged?

I've left the car locked up for the few days until my new tyre arrives but this could be next week so I might just get it plugged.

Before anybody says, I can't go to a try shop now because I don't have the car. I'm not being lazy!!

A competent tyre shop should easily be able to repair the affected areas, so long as they are on the central 3/4 width of the tread.

Some places may have a go at fixing punctures outside of this area, but they're not really covering themselves if they do

Id say that those are too close to be plugged separately. Andy will tell you for sure...

Yeah just carry on. Carry a tyre pump and if all else fails use the spare.

They ARE TOO CLOSE to be plugged individually hopefully only one has gone through then that will be fine :)
Small plugs need around 15-20mm clearance on the inside of the tyre sure to surface area of the patch and large plugs need around 30-35mm hope this helped.

Why so long for tyre delivery mate?
Next day delivery with likes of camskill etc?

Surely in this situation you just bit the bullet and pay top dollar at any reputable tyre depot not order online to try save a few coppers

If both nails have gone through then as mentioned it can't be plugged just use the car but keep a watch on the tyre pressure

Ireland doesn't have a next day delivery option. Earliest I could get was 4 - 5 day delivery and the only tyre shops nearby didn't have the same Pirelli p-zeros I currently have on... Didn't want a different tyre for ocd sake!
