New Into Photography

Hi guys, just after opinions on a decent camera to buy if im new and interested into getting into photography. Haven't got great amounts of money to be throwing away but would like a piece that can take a good quality photo for a beginner!

Hey mate,

What do you call not too much money? I'd take a look at a starter SLR from either Nikon or Canon. Something like the EOS 600D or its replacement is a great starting point and can be had reasonably cheaply.

Are you interested in just vehicle photography or would you like to photograph people etc? The canon 50mm 1.8 lense is an absolute corker for the price with some lovely bokeh (out of focus blur) for portrait shots. If you've never had an SLR or much camera experience may I suggest a book called "understanding exposure" which I believe Amazon still sell.

Thanks for the reply mate, will take a look at that book.

I decided to go for a 1200D, looking at sports in general. The deal it came with was an 18-55 lens so at the moment just playing about with it. Havn't got much time at the moment but when work eases off (shift work) Ill try and get out and use it.
