The Price Of Used R32 Brake Kits compared to Brand New items

Apologies for posing this question and I don't mean to offend anyone who is advertising these items or plans to in the future but I am confused
Been looking recently at upgrading my brakes and at the various options.
For the ease of installation and OE feel I have been looking more closely at the R32 upgrade option

I have seen several of these used kits ( calipers/disks/pads) appear in various places from between £300 and £450 depending on condition etc.
Initially I guessed as they all appeared to be in the same ball park figure they must be good value and very expensive when new.

I decided to have a look on GSF website at the parts they have there which are BRAND NEW so I could perhaps buy some disks one month and pads another before shelling out all in one go, however I was pretty surprised at the prices which are listed below.

( forgive me if I have missed an expensive part out or am barking up the wrong tree )

R32 Front Caliper LH - £108

Now although I understand there are more expensive options than the ones I have listed such as Brembo disks/Pagid pads and other makes
The price for a completely brand new "Standard" R32 front brake upgrade comes in at £334
Adding fresh brake hoses which I have noticed most of the used kits don't come with either adds a further £15x2=£30.

So all in for BRAND NEW R32 front set up comes in at £364 
Have I had too much wine this eve or am I missing another expensive set of parts that bumps the price up by a couple of hundred quid to make the used kits the price they are??

Is it an incorrect listing on the GSF website?

The pictures are not of the correct caliper, as stated the carrier is missing and that is also expensive. As well as everything else, the pad clips are missing and these days are about £55 a pair for the R ones.

£275 is the minimum you'll pay and that would be for an unpainted A3 3.2 set with old discs and pads, or just calipers and carriers. It is just the way it is, they are very good good brakes for the money

They most certainly aren't R32 calipers! I've researched this on the web myself and proper calipers, carriers, lines and shields alone (new) came in much closer to £650 if I recall. Factor in Pagid discs and pads and you're looking closer at £750 all in.

Its a bugger, because at £750 you'd be far better with a NQSBBK (which I have for sale).

Good info guys - glad it is making sense!
Wonder where someone would stand if they purchased a caliper from GSF and it was the incorrect item
I might pop over to the Lincoln branch and see if they have any for me to look at!

Considering you can pick up a decent set for around £350, someone's selling a set at the moment  , and you can sell your current set up for £120 - £150. Even including fitting and some super blue fluid your only paying about £300 for a huge upgrade in braking and they have no issues with fittting and clearance.

I don't know what GSF are saying but there's no way you can get a new kit for £364, sorry to ruin your hope

Yep - I dont doubt you are correct which is why I was so surprised to see them listed online so cheaply
My plan was to buy disks one month, pads another and so on to spread the pain!

This is from 2012 so might have changed....


The pre-09 Cupra calipers are red only and bizarrely left and right are different prices.
