Thoughts on reconditioned DSG gearbox 07 gti
« on: April 17, 2015, 10:00:15 am »
Hey... Just registered as looking at buying and 07 DSG Gti. The car looks great and cant fault much at all. However it does have a reconditioned dsg box. The owner has a receipt for £3500 for the work... Which of course seems all legit.
What are your thought on buying a reconditioned dsg gearbox?
Mine concerns are the fact in had an issue in the first place its more likely to have another problem.
Or shall I br thinking, great, ive got a brand new dsg box that should be giving me peice of mind?
Thoughts on this would be great

Thanks,

Lee

If it's been done properly then there shouldn't be any issues. You could argue that it's better than buying one that has only had oil changes done as for £3500 it would have had a fair amount of things done to it such as new Clutchpacks etc.

Yeah i was thinking that... So i should feel confident in buying it?
Also whats your opinion on dsg vs manual, other than driver patience?

Thanks again!

It's certainly not something that would put me off. I'd take it as a positive that the previous owner had actually spent the money on maintaining it rather than ignoring it or just flogging it on because of an issue.

Can't really comment on Manual vs DSG as due to me losing a motorbike vs car battle DSG is my only option!  :driver:
