TFSI BUS TTE420 arrived
« on: April 15, 2015, 11:00:46 am »
Hi chaps

I hope you don't mind me sharing my misfit in here as it's almost as much golf as touran

Ebay ad touran fsi

Little purchase that was stripped and sold in parts bar what i wanted to keep / use

Coils

Touran meet golf

One out

One in

Plus dtm front brakes and gti rears

Extended milltek to fit, chopped tails off and fitted turn downs

Obviously loads of other bits had to be done, full mk5 loom, fule lines, modified fuel pump, convert from manual to dual zone climate from golf - also pinched some interior goodies from golf

Also modified intake to fit better and added engine cover

Nice job  :congrats:.
Was the engine swap difficult (I am thinking of an engine swap)? Anything worth mentioning about it?

StuF - it's useless off the lights bud, 2nd and 3rd gear is where it's at

ohmeydz - thanks bud, FI for me only i'm afraid bought a B7 rs4 and was massively dissapointed, pretty sure this would beat it  :signLOL:

raz - thanks man, yes still a few pics of it floating about - still got the doors at the bottom of my garden

Jay - just left out the boring bits, just the 'make it look simple' highlights

th3_f15t - i don't even have any kids i know of

spankiee - me too, my dtm and RS are laid up while i use this haha

j400uk - thanks

MC71 -  :happy2:

SRC - my mrs has her beady eyes on this one, although i'm not sure how well she'd do as she's used to polo 1.4 tdi

GTI8v - it was the cheapest way to get where i wanted with the touran. reclaimed a fair wedge from golf parts and touran engine box

Stanipkiss - i've never been a xenon fan on anything (looks wise) but i'm a bit wierd  :stupid: i plan on facelifting it at some point but i still won't fit xenons  :signLOL:

rex - physical engine swap was easy part - both engines out and tfsi into touran including full front subframe / rack / heatshields / a/c pipes / mounts / milltek (extending 4" and down turns) and modifying intake pipe in 1 day

the hard part (i didn't foresee) was wiring - unlike mk4 golfs i'm used to messing with the mk5 / touran looms are pretty much one piece, half of the ecu loom is 'built in' to car loom, car loom basically runs from front lights to rear lights and everything inbetween.

after pouring 3 full days into trying to wire touran loom to work with tfsi engine i gave in, decided best option was to do full loom swap, this means every module / ecu / sensor had to be used from golf including airbag crash sensors and ignitors as touran items are not the same.

after dropping the loom in getting it running was easy, everything else took time - swapping heater boxes and controls as golf was dual zone climate, wiring rear lights (work slightly different to golf) extending many bits of loom for longer, taller touran, fitting sensors touran didn't have but golf did, converting headlights from xenon to normal, converting one (golf) wiper motor wiring to two (touran) and all sorts of things you don't even consider - washer bottle with level sensor, rain sensor, twin horns etc etc

teo_parvu - only thing i've managed to annoy so far is 370z and golf R
