Yeah, I had a great time. I loved to push my car to its limits (reasonably). Can't wait to have another track day there. :driver:

When you watch the videos keep in mind that it was my first experience on track and that I didn't want to damage my car.

I'm finally happy!
I've started the first 2016 time attack race on the "Romanian time attack challenge", winning my class, Supersport with the best overall time. A good friend had a better time in practice on "Unlimited" class with his modded 911 Turbo, but unfortunately he had some problems and couldn't compete after practice. My biggest competitor was a really beautiful Lotus on Hoosier slicks with a lot of aero mods.

Here's some pictures from the event:

These are the laptimes:

Unfortunately my breaks are still overheating, and i really need an oil cooler (got the water temperature to 110C), but winning gives me strength to go on. Can't wait for the next race. :driver:

Congratulations on the win.

That amazing Palace on the 1st page was on top gear a few years ago. They blasted some supercars through the tunnels underneath of the palace.

Thank you guys!  :notworthy:

I hope i can keep up with the pack during the rest of the season now, i had the element of surprise.  :rolleye:
I live about 1 km from thee Palace of Parliament where that episode of Top Gear was created. It is a massive reminiscence of the communist era, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon but the maintenance costs are ....pfff. Stupid thing!

I have decided to install an additional water cooler, OEM from the Golf R (Gti cup has 2 of them). Anyone knows the list of parts needed?

This is what i have so far, but I'm not sure that all of them are needed:

1K0 121 212 C     SECOND RADIATOR
1K0 122 051 BC   WATER HOSE HOT CLIMATE
1K0 121 064 A     WATER PIPE
1K0 121 101 CB   WATER PIPE
1K0 121 087 J      ADAPTER
1K0 121 156 BA   WATER HOSE
1K0 121 333 A     AIR DUCT
1K0 122 291 M     QUICK COUPLING PIECE
1K0 121 156 BC   WATER HOSE WITH QUICK COUPLING PIECE

Yes I have, but thanks!  :happy2:

The only think that for sure will be different for me will be the air guide: 1K0 121 333 A, the rest of the parts will for sure work. I have to check if a version for Leon is there or i'll have to build one.
The biggest problem is that the brake duct is exactly where this should be installed.

The Cupra R doesn't need an extra water radiator?

If you check ETKA the Leon also has this kit available for warm weather countries and DSG (BWA and BWJ).

It should be possible to retrofit. Not sure about the brake air duct though...

Thanks man, awesome find!  :congrats:

BWJ is my engine, i have to install etka these days. :)

You're right, the only thing that remains is the brake duct relocation. That should take some work, it was very hard installing them because u need space to turn the wheels.

LE: I've checked ETKA online and it seems that there is no code for the air duct (41), exacly what should be different.

AFAIK your Leon doesn't use that part, so it might not be needed/compatible. I've checked other years and none has that part.

Yeah, I will talk to my mechanic to see if we can fit the extra radiator without affecting the brake ducts. If I'd have to choose between brake and engine cooling, it'll be brake cooling.

Congratulations on the win mate, so close between 1st and 2nd.

Thanks mate! Yeah it was really close indeed, there were 3 practice sessions of 15 min and 3 race sessions. I missed one practice session because I wasn't paying attention when my group was called.  :signLOL:
And I had only one change for a good laptime because of the traffic in the first race session. After that, my brakes have overheated and I tried one more fast lap. At over 180km/h I tried to brake for the only hairpin of the track, i felt i had no brakes and I decided to keep the wheels straight and use the field to stop. Got out of there and went straight to the box. I've seen that my brake fluid has spilled out of the recipient. Scary moment!
I decided to not take part in the second and third race session, because I've seen my laptime and at that point I was 1 seconds faster then the fastest guy at "Race" class and 2 sec faster then the Lotus which was in my class, "Supersport". I could only hope.
Then I've seen their laptimes drop, but I've got lucky.  :jumping:
I have to be better prepared because the weather is getting warmer as the summer is approaching.

Wow I bet that was seriously intense watching his lap times.

Yeah fading brakes is scary so I can imagine no brakes is  :scared:, good that there was plenty of run off and all was OK in the end

Yeah doing time attacks is hard work as it is so doing it in that heat is a real challenge. Winning whilst only taking part in half of the sessions is very impressive though  :congrats:
