Plug and play android?
« on: April 19, 2015, 08:57:33 am »
Hey guys  I just purchased my first mk5 gti, and want to upgrade to an android stereo with sat nav / Bluetooth etc as I did In my previous car.

I wondered if there is a plug and play no messing option I can use without loosing things like stalk controls? I'd like everything to work with it as it should buy I'm not very good when it comes to fitting /wiring stereos. Thanks for any help in advance Ryan.

any aftermarket stereo is gonna need a switched live and illumination wire (ive only managed to find a variable 3-12v one so far not the required 12v one). Then your gonna need a decent fascia adapter kit with cage. your also gonna need a twin fakra aerial adapter and wire 12 volts to that. wheel control will need adapter also. so its not plug and play.
you could look at the Chinese android units on ebay which are plug and play with no fascia adapter needed. They use the canbus but they get mixed reviews and doubt youd get much warranty or customer service if needed.
ive gone for a clarion vx404e as its well priced with warranty and does most of what I want.
