Navigation and bluetooth on instrument cluster
« on: April 12, 2015, 10:03:44 pm »
Hi guys,

I've just helped my dad install a RNS 510 and vw bluetooth module on his 2011 Golf GTD. What do I need to do to show the navigation and bluetooth information on the instrument cluster? I've had a quick search around and it says I have to have a highline cluster. How can I tell I have one of those? If I need to code anything, can anyone tell me what I specifically have to set?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks I've got the highline one in my mk5 and the sat nav shows directions. On my dad's Mk6 GTD its a white display which is full height but I'm not sure if its highline?

To set those checkboxes, do I need VAG com?

You will need VCDS to do set the check boxes for the gateway or someone that does yea.

On the RNS you will also need to tick the box for BAP protocol.

Thanks guys.

Managed to find someone to code the RN510 and bluetooth module to the MK6 highline white highline display using VCDS today. Bluetooth (phone/phonebook etc) came up immediately but for some reason navigation didn't. We checked all the settings (BAP etc), switched unit/ignition off etc and it still wasn't displaying. Came home and left the car for about half an hour and went back to go out again and it had started working, not sure why.

The only thing not working now is the SDS (voice control). If I press the star button on the RNS 510 (ver p) or button on the steering wheel, I hear the beep but it keeps saying "Pardon". After talking slowly/louder/shouting/swearing it still doesn't work. It's like it doesn't hear the command I say. I think the mic is working as if I make a call, the mic works perfectly. Any idea of what's wrong or what I need to do?

You will need to route the mic via the RNS as it's probably only wired to the bluetooth unit at present.

That was the problem, reconnected the plugs on the wiring loom to support bluetooth and SDS and it's working now!

Thanks guys.
