Rcd 310 install - ipod connect ...
« on: April 19, 2015, 09:52:29 pm »
Couldn't find the answer anywhere so here goes with a post..

Got an RCD 310 which I'm going to swap into my Ed 30 next weekend but my car has the old iPod arm rest connector (which i believe only works on much older iPods) - my question is will the iPod Connector still work with the updated head unit or should i just rub an USB aux in cable into the glovebox etc for the iPod connectivity and ignore the arm rest gubbins?

Thanks in advance for any help - electronics arnt my strong point :happy2:

Im not sure about the connectivity with the RCD310, but I have the armrest iPod dock and it works with my iPhone 5s. Bought a 30 pin extender (link below), then a genuine 30-8 pin adaptor from apple.

Had to remove the dock from its housing, then ran the wire out from under the console in the gap between the carpet.

Only thing is it doesn't charge my phone. I bought an adaptor which went before the extender and was meant to make it charge iPhones but it doesn't really work. Now says it charges on the phone, but it doesn't really go up.

I'm running a rcd310. Same as you had the old crappy iPod in arm rest no that didn't charge my new iPod. I bought a MDI with kuftec loom. One for sale on here and ran in glovebox. No coding either.  :happy2:

Hi all - I was thinking of doing this upgrade but had a couple of questions if anyone could help -

I have a 07 plate golf but it's one with the AXX engine imported from the UAE. Will the can still need updating to stop the battery drain issue? Is it something that can be done easily or does it need to go to the dealer?

Also my second question is, will this upgrade play up with my parking sensors? As I read somewhere that you may need to code them back or something which I wasn't sure if it was accurate or not

I currently have the iPod connection that dosnt charge the iPod connected to a rcd 300 which is annoying as I have to charge the iPod every 4 days to keep it going. As you can imagine it's very annoying when your out driving and the iPod dies!
