R32 rear brake conversion on GTI
« on: April 21, 2015, 06:57:15 pm »
I have looked into a r32 rear brake coversion for my ED30
From what I have read everything is a bolt on conversion.

But I have read that the disc backing plates on the r32 don't fit the GTI

I would rather replace these at the same time

Am I correct in saying that backing plates/shields from a K1 Leon or Scirroco R will for this brake set up and bolt to the GTI.

I am unsure about the Scirocco ones, do they have an e-brake?

Pretty sure the Leon use the same size discs but just vented, so the plate is probably the same.

The original GTI ones work perfectly well just pushed back a little. Ran mine like this for years, as have others.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

R32/Mk6 R/Audi S3 brakes are all the same, the Leon uses the same size rears as the GTI. The shields from your current GTI just need bending as mentioned, but I would remove then as they offer no real benefit being there, block air flow and will eventually rust enough they can fall off which mine have started doing. Of course, its personal preference.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Does anyone know if the Rocco R has vented rear discs same as the R32 ?
The Rocco def has a normal handbrake.
If the Leon K1 has the same rear brakes as the GTI.

Would rather buy new off the shelf shields if it all possibly without bending the originals.
