RedGolf - Oh, if something doesn't show on their precious computer, then as far as they are concerned there is no problem, and I am just making it up and wasting their time! Luckily, I still have 2 years extended warranty on it, so I didn't have to pay for the "scan". I've already been through this problem with my last car, telling them there was a problem and they didn't accept there was until I dumped it on their forecourt in limp mode with the dash board lit up like a Christmas tree... They then swapped it for this GTI.
This issue has been going on since before Christmas (it turned over, but wouldn't start, and then the next morning I needed it jump started), and yes, it is intermittent, but I thought something like not starting and cutting out would show up on the VAG? They have updated the software and "hope this solves the problem". I suggested maybe its a fuel system problem... I got told its either the battery or starter motor!?
It's just exhausting knowing whenever something goes wrong, they'll do nothing about it unless the car is physically broken!!
Andy - I would normally go elsewhere, but when I had issues with my last car, they nearly rejected sorting the problem because I had gone to another VW dealer in the same franchise! Whilst I have warranty, they can deal with me!
