Cutting out and Starting Issue... Errors Codes?
« on: May 20, 2015, 08:48:40 pm »
I've been experiencing starting issues and it cutting out. A couple of times it's taken 2-4 times turning the key before it fires up (it turns over ok, just not firing up) The other day whilst at traffic lights, it cut out. It sometimes starts up and idles rough too.
Taken it to VW (for the second time) and they say no errors show up on their VAG system and they can't see a fault there?
Really? So if my car doesn't start and cuts out, nothing would be recorded as an error?
Needless to say I have the car back, with nothing solved and just told if it happens again to call them.... Seems pointless if they can't find a fault??

It's a mk6 GTI... Any thoughts?

No idea but I just want to say how bad of service that is. It's clearly some Mechanical issue and vw only decide to plug it in. I'd be ringing up vw hq mate especially if they made you pay for the scan.

RedGolf - Oh, if something doesn't show on their precious computer, then as far as they are concerned there is no problem, and I am just making it up and wasting their time! Luckily, I still have 2 years extended warranty on it, so I didn't have to pay for the "scan". I've already been through this problem with my last car, telling them there was a problem and they didn't accept there was until I dumped it on their forecourt in limp mode with the dash board lit up like a Christmas tree... They then swapped it for this GTI.

This issue has been going on since before Christmas (it turned over, but wouldn't start, and then the next morning I needed it jump started), and yes, it is intermittent, but I thought something like not starting and cutting out would show up on the VAG? They have updated the software and "hope this solves the problem". I suggested maybe its a fuel system problem... I got told its either the battery or starter motor!?

It's just exhausting knowing whenever something goes wrong, they'll do nothing about it unless the car is physically broken!!

Andy - I would normally go elsewhere, but when I had issues with my last car, they nearly rejected sorting the problem because I had gone to another VW dealer in the same franchise! Whilst I have warranty, they can deal with me!
