2004 GTI Battery Drain
« on: April 24, 2015, 12:24:50 pm »
Guys,

Having some issues with a 2004 GTI I bought. The battery keeps draining, which i think is a result of the stereo. When driving the stereo keeps changing to CD mode for some reason. There isn't a CD in the stereo so its states "no cd" and switches back to the radio.
It seems the stereo is coming on after the car is switched off and locked.

Anyone any ideas?, fault stereo or electrical fault? Also worth mentioning it has a 6 disk CD fitted as well.

Thanks in advance, PEA

Is it an aftermarket stereo?

Have you tested how much amps the cars pulling once switched off after say 30 mins?

Have you actually seen the stereo shutdown then actually start back up or is it a guess at that's whats happening?
