3dr seats
« on: November 30, 2009, 10:26:54 pm »
hi guys

hope im missing something but my ive just bought a new mk5 and the seats wont slide when folded.
the seats will slide forward and back using the front handle but will only fold from the top handle.
the seats are leather if that makes any difference.

Cheers tommy

You need to pull the lever and hold up whilst pushing the seat back as if you are almost pushing it into the seate base and it will slide.

nope, even holding up the handle and pushing on the base of the seat.
not sure if the top handle is connected to the base, but i don't particularly want to take the seat apart.

When you pull the lever on the top of the seat, do you see the lever at the bottom of the seat go up as if you were sliding the seat backwards and forwards?

My drivers seat has started doing this.  It's going in for a service on Thursday so I'll get them to lok at it then and report any findings.

Had mine looked at today and it was apparently a cable that had come loose.

No im not a stalker  :happy2:, i used to go to a few club GTI Worcs meets with my blue polo and MK1 GTI, I haven't been for ages tho! does anyone still go to those meets?

Good to hear about the seat, not sure about taking the leather off tho, seems like one hell of a delicate job! may have a look this weekend, and drop it into VW if it gets out of hand!

cheers
Tommy

Slightly off topic but does anyone else think that the seats adjust on there own? Had the car about 8 months now and have only managed to get the seats comfortable twice. Seems once its sorted its fine for a while but the it seems to move? Am I going mad?

Yes but it's not CGTI now.  We go under the name of Rubbadubz and a few of the old lot are still around.  We try to cater for the whole VAG range now, including air-cooled.
